HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM TEAM BANZAI!

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I’ve been away from posting regularly on my website for awhile, but aside from a surprise trip back to the Philippines, I’ve been keeping busy drawing a project called SILVERWOLF for a new publisher called Galaxy Graphics.  Check out this splash page (TM & © 2010 Galaxy Graphics, of course).  It’s not scheduled till 2012, but with luck I’ll get to show you more page is my next update.   I’m also writing and drawing a brand-new BANZAI GIRLS story for a new BANZAI GIRLS project that I hope you’ll be seeing late next year….if you scroll down you’ll see that I am previewing several pages of it.

So everyone’s big question to me is:  What’s the status of all thing Banzai?

Well, my contract with Arcana Studio has expired, so I’m in negotiations with another publisher to pick up the series as well as the collections.  Soon, I should be able to fill you in on the new home for BANZAI GIRLS.

If you have a smart phone, you’ll see that BANZAI GIRLS is now available through the Comixology app.  Be sure to check it out.

Do you follow online comics series?  BANZAI GIRLS will get a new life via internet through a website called keenspot.com, home to the brilliantly braintwisting, mildly magnificent online comics sensation called WAYWARD SONS, written by the suave and debonair Benny Powell.  Plans are for me to launch BANZAI GIRLS there sometime in January, so keep check that site — and this one! — for the launch.  In the meantime, I’ll be working on a page or two for WAYWARD SONS myself, to schmooze the launch of BANZAI GIRLS along.  I’m excited!

A LITTLE JINKY UNDER THE TREE! A LITTLE JINKY UNDER THE TREE!

If you don’t scroll down to the bottom of this main page, you’re missing out on a lot of new original art — sexy pinups of Banzai Girl that I’ve made over the past year, available as autographed limited edition prints for Chirtmas giving as well as original artwork for the collector among us.  See below for the prints to order, and check out www.artandcomicsstore.com for original artwork and www.artandcomics.com for back issues and other Banzai goodies!

ALL-NEW BANZAI GIRLS FOR 2011

I’ve gotten a lot of fan letters asking me to continue BANZAI GIRLS.  I’ve been tempted to jump the characters ahead by several years so we could see how they all turned out.  And you know what they say — sometimes the only way to deal with temptation is to give in to it!  So I’ve come up with a brand-new foe for Banzai Girl to face, and I started everyone on a whole new adventure!  Here, let me share with you a couple of pages from the new storyline.

This first page introduces a new character, although she was lurking around in a previous issue —

Here we look in on Jinky and on Jasmine, who is now in school herself —

I’m still developing the whole new story, but it’s been seven years since the end of the last BANZAI GIRLS storyline, and a lot of things have changed since we last saw Jinky, Michelle, Kat, Jasmine, and all the others.  I’m loving visiting my characters again.  I’ll tell you more about the new story as things appear on my drawing board.  Meantime, feel free to send in your suggestions of what YOU’D like to see in this upcoming story.  Just like last time, I’ll incorporate the best ideas!

NEW PROJECTS! NEW POSSIBILITIES!

When I drew the three-volume series of AVALON HIGH with Meg Cabot at TokyoPop, my primary reason was the chance to show I could do more than just BANZAI GIRLS.  So this year I’ll be shopping around a couple of new projects that I’ve been developing.

First of all, it may surprise people that I’m perfectly willing and able to do super-hero and fantasy/SF projects — but only if they haven’t actually picked up BANZAI GIRLS to see all the action adventure, monsters, and heroics going on in its pages.

So let me show you my “take” on Superman and Supergirl against a Kryptonite Woman (click to see the full size image) —

In fact, I’ve drawn some entire sequences of Superman and of Captain America to show how I’d handle them.  They’re on my agent’s website.  Here’s the direct link —

Want more?  How about three sequential STAR WARS pages?  Try these! —

I’ve even tried some Wonder Woman and Scarlet Witch! —

And I couldn’t finish without trying a Red Sonja —

…As you can see, I’ve been one busy girl over the wintertime.

Second of those projects I’ve been working on is this —

This is DANGEROUS SECRETS, a new project I’ll be shopping around this summer, in hopes of attracting a publisher.  It has vampires, teen girls, romance, a religious revelation spanning two thousand years… all the things I hope a 2011 readership will find compelling.

Third is something called SUPERIOR BORN, that I’m working on with novelist Paul S. Brittain.  As for the art?  I’m keeping it under wraps for now.  We’ll be showing that one around soon!

MY BROTHER’S A MODEL, TOO!

Aside from being a designer and all-around Photoshop whiz, did you know that my brother Pejee is a male model now?  He’s even been cast as an extra in Filipino soaps on TV!  Check out his pics —

Girls, if you wanna write to him, or if you’re a client wishing to hire him, drop me an Email at banzaigirlmc@aol.com, and I’ll forward your mail to him!

FUN WITH FANS AND STAN

Here are some new pics of me with fans (and friend Mike Deodato) at the most recent Conventions…

Yup, that last one is me with Glass House Graphics’s David Campiti and the legendary Stan “The Man” Lee!

BANZAI GIRLS ANNUAL — STILL AVAILABLE!

It’s sold out from the publisher, but I still have a few copies left of the newest BANZAI GIRLS ANNUAL, jam-packed with 40 pages of non-stop fun.  Besides the all-new story “The Terror of…Tikbalang!”, there’s a bonus pinup gallery, plus some Banzai cartoons by the terrific Tina Francisco, plus a massive 22-page photo gallery stuffed with pics of my sister Michelle and me, dressed in lingerie, bikinis, schoolgirl outfits, cheerleader uniforms, maid costumes, and a whole lot more.  This is the collection of photos that fans have been telling me for years they wished we would do, so here it is, as last.  Sometimes wishes DO come true!

If you haven’t spotted it in your friendly neighborhood comics shop, this new BANZAI GIRLS ANNUAL is available directly from me, personalized and signed however you want.  It’s cover priced at $6.95 and available through my online store if you CLICK HERE!
